Juneteenth Open Mic Experience

The Melanated Mixer is evening of Detroit culture fortified with the intention of providing tangible liberation by way of music, libations, communion and spoken word. A special poetry workshop taught by Detroit Poetry Society co-founder "Sheezy Bo Beezy", will immerse participants in a unique journey of independence and ancestral reverence; while also healthily challenging their literary abilities. Participants will also have a chance to experience, and mingle with; the who's who of Detroit's illustrious spoken word culture. The evening will include an open mic, a plethora of local black vendors, food and drink specials, and a very intentionally melanated DJ set by Detroit's own DJ Nefyu.

Detroit Shipping Company will be featuring a special drink menu for the event incorporating historical black icons such as Sugar Ray Leonard, Madam CJS, Obama and Marcus Garveys. Featuring traditional flavors of strawberry and hibiscus and a traditional red color. Coop Carribean Fusion will also be featuring a special menu item for the event.

Event tickets available through eventbrite for $10 and $15 at the door. Pre-purchase your tickets here.
